This new committee was appointed in June 2021, with elections occurring every 2 years, and voting open to all members.

Mark Humphries
DAMA UK Chairman

Mark is the Consultancy Director at Civica, where he works with clients in central government to manage their data better and to gain actionable insight from it. Mark is a self-confessed data geek who has spent most of his professional life working with data one way or another; from moving it around, to making sense of it, but most of all trying to ensure that it can be trusted.

Mark's vision is for DAMA UK to be the natural home for data management professionals who look to the DMBoK for inspiration and guidance, and who aspire to hold CDMP as recognition of their professionalism.

Lisa Allen

DAMA UK Vice Chair

Lisa is a motivated leader who is passionate about data. She has experience across government and the private sector on a range of topics including open data, data governance, data cataloguing, GDPR, and data transformation. Lisa is Head of Consultancy for Data Programmes at the Open Data Institute. She heads up an expert team offering advice and guidance to companies and governments to build an open and trustworthy data ecosystem.

Nigel Turner

Nigel is Principal Information Management consultant with Global Data Strategy Ltd., specialising in data strategy, data quality, and data governance. Overall, he has worked in data management for over 25 years. He spent much of his career in British Telecommunications (BT), where he led a company wide data quality improvement programme and ran information management and CRM practices. Since leaving BT, Nigel has worked in a variety of consultancy roles, providing help and advice to over 150 global companies. He is a regular speaker, trainer and chair at information management conferences and events.

Chris Bradley

Christopher Bradley is an Independent Information Strategist with over 40 years of Information Management experience. Chris and his team at Data Management Advisors Ltd. advise global organisations on data strategy, capability uplift, data governance, and information exploitation. Chris is VP Professional Development at DAMA International, leading the worldwide CDMP & DMBoK developments, and is an author of the DMBoK 2 and lead author and examiner for the CDMP professional certification. In 2016, Chris became the inaugural DAMA CDMP Fellow, and Chair of the Fellowship board, receiving the DAMA lifetime achievement award for services in furthering Data Management to the International Data Management community. He is also a Director of the E&P standards committee "DMBoard", sits on several International Data standards committees, and has written several books and papers.

Sue Russell
Office & Finance Manager

Sue runs a small event management and business services company and supports DAMA UK and Team Defence Information. Sue is responsible for managing DAMA UK, her duties include managing membership, finance, the website, the design and layout of publications, and organising events. Please contact Sue in the first instance.

Nicola Askham

Nicola is better known as The Data Governance Coach, and has made it her mission to help as many people as possible be successful implementing Data Governance. With 18 years Data Governance experience, Nicola helps companies and consultants in a range of sectors to design and implement Data Governance successfully.

Nicola is responsible for arranging and hosting DAMA UK's webinars.

Suzanne Coumbaros

Suzanne is a data management professional with many years of experience in data governance, data architecture, data warehousing, business intelligence, data quality and data strategy in a variety of organisations. She has worked for many government led organisations as well as public and privately owned companies, across both the UK and Africa and is now a Global Data Governance Director, focusing on Global Master Data Management and automating the improvement of data quality with artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies

Andrew Lunt

Andrew Lunt is currently a Data Management Director for Carruthers and Jackson, who are a data management and strategy consultancy, prior to that he was working as a Data Governance Manager for The Adecco Group and has also work for many years in data as BI manager for one of the sister brands of The Adecco Group, Pontoon. Andrew has over 13 years experience working with data and has managed data teams in both the UK and Poland.

He has been busy over the last year working for C&J helping to establish their data governance offering to new and existing clients.


I also do a lot coaching and mentoring for both C&J and DAMA with an emphasis on Data Governance, Data Quality and the initial setup of a data governance programme.


Ian Chapman

Ian Chapman is a Data Architect with over 25 years’ of industry experience, with 18 years exclusively on Data Management projects predominantly in Financial Services. He has in-depth experience covering all aspects of Architecture, Design and Implementation, from high-level Strategy and Architecture to low-level Design and Delivery. Educated to degree level, together with Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status awarded by the BCS - The Chartered Institute for IT, he  also holds the DAMA Certified Data Management (CDMP) qualification. 

He has been a DAMA UK committee member since November 2017 with responsibilities for the web presence and membership administration. 

Deborah Yates

Deborah is a data governance specialist with experience applying and advising on organisational data policy and leading culture change through open and trustworthy use of data. Deborah has worked with a range of organisations across a range of sectors, including the engineering, agricultural, financial and public sectors. Deborah is currently the Data Governance Lead at professional services firm KPMG.

Mary Drabble

Mary Drabble is the Principal Data Governance Analyst at abrdn, leading a team embedding the organisation-wide Data Governance Implementation Framework. Mary has a proven track record in Master Data Management, Data Governance and Data Quality tools, methodologies, architectures and processes. Prior to taking on an end user role, as a consultant with more than 15 years’ experience in Information Management, she helped clients across all industries in a wide variety of engagements ranging from Analytical to Operational data and information management solutions.Mary administers the DAMA UK Mentoring scheme and is regional co-ordinator for Scotland.

Akhtar Ali

Akhtar Ali is a Data & Information Governance specialist with a wealth of experience in creating and implementing data vision and strategy. Akhtar has extensive experience of working in the utilities industry where he has gained both regulatory and commercial experience. He has a proven track record in Records Retention, GDPR, Data Governance, Data Quality tools and Information Management, supported by strong Change Management and Business Transformation skills.

Jenny Andrew

Jenny is Head of Data at the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, working to modernise the data infrastructure and culture at one of the UK's oldest professional associations. She learned her trade through a data-intensive PhD in satellite oceanography, followed by 10 years working in research data management for the British Oceanographic Centre, specialising in data architecture and metadata management.

Through her position on the DAMA UK board, Jenny hopes to share some of the experience of long-established professional bodies, helping strengthen the collective influence of data management experts.

Phil Jones

Phil is a Lead Consultant with Redkite, a data consultancy that helps businesses to unlock value from their data, with more than 30 years of experience. His broad-ranging skills includes Data Strategy, Data Governance Frameworks and Implementation, Data Quality, Data Cataloguing, Programme Management, Project Management and Business Process Modelling. Prior to Redkite, Phil worked for nearly 25 years in Marks & Spencer where he held a diverse range of roles including setting up the Data Governance function and a range of technology enablers. Phil holds a BSc(Hons) in Computer Studies from the University of Brighton and is a member of the DAMA UK Committee.
